Agreement

Upon acceptance of your work, we need 3 to 10 final pieces in TIFF format, plus the price you want to charge for each piece. Seventy-five percent of each sales is yours. Artocracy charges a 25% commission to pay for the upkeep of the site, troubleshooting, advertising, web hosting, the PayLoadz (our sales tracking system) and monthly site improvements.

Pricing

We want prints on Artocracy to be affordable and therefore accessible to large audience. Because they are digital prints rather than one-of-a-kind artworks, we recommend charging $10-20 per download. We add $5 for a 16x20 print and $10 for a 20x24 print. Artists on Artocracy have priced their work from $10-60 for each download. Pricing is left at the discretion of the artist. Once we receive your work and prices, we create a personal gallery page with your images, links to your biography and artist statement, so patrons can view and purchase your work.

Formatting

All of your final pieces must be submitted as TIFF files and formatted to accommodate a 16x20 image. For optimal printing purposes, we recommend the following:

Each TIFF needs to be at least 300 dpi.
We also need a copy of each image as an 8x10 PDF.
All Artocracy downloads are formatted to 8x10.

Keep in Mind

All pieces submitted to Artocracy must be original artworks that take into consideration the digital printing methods, content and imagery. The artworks can be on a single sheet of paper, multiple sheets of paper, or cut up sheets of paper, they just have to be able to be printed on a home computer.
We will not accept scanned in images from slides or transparencies. Your work has to be created for the site, and your statement needs to reflect how and why you create your images.
At the risk of repetition, we must emphasize that each image must be delivered to Artocracy as a TIFF file, ready to print.

Please note: Currently, we cannot prevent patrons from making multiple prints of your work from a single download. We rely on people's sense of decency and emphasize in our communication with customers the importance of paying for artists? work. We realize this situation is potentially problematic, but hopefully by keeping the prices down and communicating with our customers will encourage people to buy multiple images rather than make illegal prints.

Adding or Replacing Artwork

Artists have login information in order to replace work on their gallery when they wish. After the new work is uploaded and approved by Artocracy, the work goes live on the website.

Getting Paid

Artists are paid as prints are sold. There is a two-week grace period between sale and payment for our bookkeepers mental well being.
